For my first blog I think introductions are in order. I am currently a stay at home mom for a temporary period as I take a rather unexpected break from teaching. I recently moved to the state of Maryland from Florida where I was an 8th grade science teacher. Before that I grew up in Michigan where I majored from Michigan State in Botany. The problem with botany is that wherever you move to, the plants are different then where you moved from. I have taught and lived in Michigan, Florida, the Caribbean and now Maryland. I tend to feel disconcerted when I am unfamiliar with the plants around me and have this inner drive of a need to know nature. I also love hiking and teaching so this blog seems to be my way of fulfilling all of these needs. I will also likely take my son, Logan on most outings with me along with my dog, Gunner.
I plan on using this blog as a personal journal of all my findings in my surrounding woods. I don't really expect many readers because I myself don't read blogs much but if you do happen to read and have anything you want to share please feel free.
